Founded in 1994 by Hollywood actor Paul Newman, Barretstown is a not-for-profit camp for seriously ill children in Ireland. The charity offers free, specially designed camps and programmes for children and their families, along with 24 hour on site medical and nursing care. Everything is provided at no cost to the family and supported by donations and the fundraising efforts of corporate supporters, individuals, and community groups.
With this Christmas direct mail appeal, I told the story of Marlie, who was just 3 years old when she was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour. The appeal was part of the “Sprinkle Some Magic” campaign, which won the Fundraising Campaign of the Year award at the 2024 Charity Excellence Awards.
